Developed as the next step up from the old school style 'quad' skates, they were the newest, coolest thing to have. If you were cool, you had a pair of rollerblades.
Originally they were designed for ice skaters to practice on general surfaces, but then in the late 80s and early 90s their popularity grew and they were made by the company 'Rollerblade Inc'
